Delete your account
You can delete your Oboeru account and its data at any time, either from inside the app or by asking us. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Delete it yourself, in the app
- Open Oboeru and go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Read what will be removed, then confirm.
Your data is erased immediately and you are signed out. Nothing further is required from you.
Unused beans are not refunded. Beans are a consumable you have already
received, so deleting your account forfeits any you have not spent. If you have beans left and
want to use them, spend them before you delete. If you only want to leave this device, use
Sign Out instead — that keeps your account and data intact.
Ask us to delete it
If you can no longer sign in, or have already removed the app, email oboeru@underbanyan.com from the address on your account with the subject “Delete my account”. We will confirm and delete it within 30 days.
What gets deleted
- Your saved words, including your notes and tags.
- Your unlocked words and any content packs you own.
- Your beans, including unused ones.
- Any error reports you sent us.
- Your sign-in credentials and account record.
What we keep, and why
- Purchase records — kept for as long as we are required to retain transaction records for tax and refund purposes, and so a refund issued by Google after your account is gone can still be processed. These records keep the amount and the product, and no longer identify you or link to your account.
- Word explanations and audio — the readings, meanings, and example sentences generated for a Japanese word are shared by everyone who studies that word. They describe the language, not you, and contain nothing personal, so they remain available to other learners.
